![]() On Saturday April 6th, we held our EGLI mini-conference for our partner schools. We started off our first committee session discussing nuclearization on the Korean peninsula. Out of the debates came two possible solutions: (1) divide nuclear weapons equally among countries and (2) countries with developed nuclear programs to mentor countries developing their own nuclear programs. After further debate, the committee voted to pass the first resolution. Before our second session, the delegates had time to eat and hang out. The topic for our second session was Space Weaponization. At the start, the delegates agreed on keeping weapons out of space. However, their stances had to change when news came that an asteroid was on a collision course towards Earth. From there, the committee became even more entertaining. Ideas for how to stop the asteroid ranged from using nuclear weapons to using a giant net to building a shield. Then aliens came to the moon from the asteroid, Russia invaded the moon, aliens landed on Earth, and a cure for cancer was created. Our mini-conference provided an opportunity for students to improve their MUN skills and be creative. We look forward to having another mini-conference this coming academic year for students to gain valuable MUN experience and have fun outside of the classroom.
